Cancellation & Refund Policy
1. Purpose of this Policy
This Cancellation & Refund Policy (“Refund Policy”) explains how cancellations, refunds, credits, billing corrections, duplicate charges, unauthorized transactions, digital-content purchases, membership payments, payment failures, chargebacks, and related financial matters are handled through Sanctum Sound Genesis.
This Policy is designed around several fundamental principles:
CANCELLATION SHOULD BE CLEAR.
BILLING SHOULD BE HONEST.
A VALID PURCHASE SHOULD BE HONORED.
A LEGITIMATE ERROR SHOULD BE CORRECTED.
FRAUD SHOULD NOT BE REWARDED.
This Policy should be read together with the:
- Sanctum Sound Terms of Service
- Privacy Policy
- Cookie Policy & Cookie Preferences
- Copyright Policy
- DMCA / Copyright Infringement Procedure
- Membership & Subscription Terms
and
- Purchase, Digital Content & Access Policy.
Nothing in this Policy limits rights or remedies that cannot lawfully be waived under applicable consumer-protection law.
2. Different Types of Transactions
Genesis may involve more than one type of financial relationship.
These may include:
- RECURRING MEMBERSHIP PAYMENTS.
- SEPARATE DIGITAL-CONTENT PURCHASES.
The cancellation and refund rules applicable to one transaction type may not be identical to those applicable to another.
A user cancelling membership is not necessarily cancelling a separate digital-content purchase.
Likewise, receiving a refund for a particular purchase does not automatically cancel an unrelated membership.
3. Membership Cancellation
A member may cancel an active recurring Sanctum Membership through the cancellation method provided by Sanctum Sound.
The cancellation process should be reasonably accessible.
Sanctum Sound should not intentionally create unnecessary obstacles designed to prevent a member from cancelling.
MEMBERSHIP SHOULD BE VALUABLE ENOUGH THAT PEOPLE WANT TO STAY.
IT SHOULD NOT DEPEND UPON MAKING THEM DIFFICULT TO LEAVE.
4. Where Members May Cancel
The final Genesis implementation should provide a clear cancellation pathway through:
- Account settings.
- Membership settings.
- Subscription management.
- The applicable payment-provider interface where appropriate.
- Or another legally compliant method clearly communicated to the member.
- The precise production instructions should match the actual Genesis interface.
5. Cancellation Should Not Require Unnecessary Contact
Where technically and legally practical, a member should not be required to:
- Telephone customer support.
- Send a physical letter.
- Engage in a sales conversation.
- Explain why they are leaving.
- Or negotiate with Sanctum Sound merely to stop automatic renewal.
- Sanctum Sound may invite voluntary feedback after cancellation.
- Providing feedback should not be a condition of cancellation.
6. Effective Date of Membership Cancellation
Unless applicable law, a refund, or another disclosed rule requires otherwise, membership cancellation ordinarily:
- STOPS THE NEXT AUTOMATIC RENEWAL
rather than immediately terminating the paid period already purchased.
A member may ordinarily continue receiving membership benefits through the end of the then-current paid billing period.
For example:
- If a member has already paid for a monthly period and cancels halfway through that period, the membership may remain active through the scheduled end of the paid period.
- The membership should then cease renewing.
7. Cancellation Confirmation
After a successful cancellation, Sanctum Sound should provide reasonably clear confirmation.
The confirmation should state, where applicable:
- That automatic renewal has been cancelled.
- The date cancellation was requested.
- The date paid membership access is expected to end.
- Whether the member retains benefits through the end of the paid period.
- And any other material consequence of cancellation.
Cancellation confirmation may be provided:
- On-screen.
- By email.
- Through account settings.
- Or through a combination of these methods.
